It is the mission of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. to enhance the quality of life for women and their families in the U.S. and globally through community service, civil, and social action. Our goal is to achieve greater progress in the areas of education, health awareness, and leadership development. Our members, affiliates, staff, and community partners work to create and support initiatives that align with our vision.
About Eta Nu

The Eta Nu Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho was chartered April 16, 1979 and proudly serves Texas Woman's University (TWU). Located in Denton, Texas, TWU is the nation’s largest university primarily for women and has enrollment of approximately 15,000 students. Texas Woman’s offers degree programs in the liberal arts, nursing, health sciences, the sciences, business and education. Its campuses in Denton, Dallas and Houston are joined by an e-learning campus offering innovative online degree programs in business, education and general studies. TWU serves the citizens of Texas in many ways, including:

Graduating more new health care professionals than any other university in Texas

Easing the teacher shortage by placing highly qualified professionals in the classroom

At TWU, Sigma Gamma Rho is committed to assisting the university in fulfilling its vision through the promotion of high scholastic achievement with an emphasis on academic excellence. ​The Sorority provides leadership development opportunities to its members and the student body, and high quality programming with an emphasis on civic responsibility.​
In addition to the service and scholarship events that the Sorority hosts, members of Sigma Gamma Rho enjoy a lifelong bond of sisterhood. From road trips to game nights to fashion shows and everything in between, Sigma Gamma Rho is more than just a sorority, it’s a way of life.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is a lifelong commitment with a rich legacy and membership in the Sorority continues beyond the collegiate experience. Women who join the Sisterhood continue their membership after graduation through the alumnae experience.

Membership Info
New members of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. are accepted on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A woman is eligible for membership in an undergraduate chapter only while in attendance at a four-year accredited college or university, or in a liberal arts/transfer program of a junior or community college, once they submit proof of intention to enter and obtain a degree from a four-year school.
Candidates may be accepted for undergraduate membership after successfully completing one quarter, semester, or trimester. The cumulative grade point average required for membership is 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale). Candidates must be committed to serving others, promoting scholarship and social action, and fellowship with professional women.
